The UK healthcare community came together once again for two full days of professional development at the Acute & General Medicine Conference 2022, reaffirming the conference’s position as the largest annual conference and exhibition in emergency, acute and advanced internal medicine.
The show, which took place on the 15-16 November at the ExCeL London, brought over 2,600 hospital doctors from across the medical specialties together in a dynamic environment to reflect, share experiences and update their knowledge on the best management of common and complex medical cases presenting at the front doors.
The event featured over 100 educational sessions, enabling attendees to hear from leading minds in the profession. Over two days, general physicians, acute intensivists, and emergency doctors were empowered to follow their own learning needs through a wide array of lecture-based seminars and hands-on skills-oriented workshops to choose from.
This year’s CPD accredited programme featured an expert speaker programme focused on instilling confidence in treating more medically complex patients, while enabling delegates to get up to date on the latest guidance. Attendees were also able to take part in a range of hands-on training workshops in invasive & non-invasive ventilation, airway skills, and ultrasound techniques.
Designed to enhance the education and professional development of general physicians, acute intensivists and emergency doctors, Acute & General Medicine provides a wide breadth of educational sessions all under one roof, equipping medical professionals with the skills and knowledge to navigate the needs of patients and the changing landscape of the NHS.
The one-of-a-kind event also saw more than 150 exhibitors gather to showcase innovative products and services that can improve patient care and outcomes, to the largest and most senior gathering of hospital doctors in the UK and across the NHS.
Yemi Ibidunni, Event Director, said: “With the NHS facing unprecedented pressures, there is increasing need to facilitate shared learning and knowledge between the healthcare community to support the NHS and improve patient care. We’re proud that Acute & General Medicine can support these developments and provide a dynamic environment to bring the healthcare community together, from across the medical specialties, to get up to date on the latest healthcare insights, engage in peer-to-peer leaning, partake in hands-on workshops, and tap into the expertise of thought-leaders and experts on how we can work towards a brighter future.”
This year’s conference featured an action-packed programme and delivered several highlights:
- The Ventilation Learning Bar, sponsored by Vyaire Medical, proved popular among delegates, featuring a series of in-depth presentations, talks and demonstrations of the latest cutting-edge technologies in airway management.
- A series of hands-on training sessions were delivered at the ground-breaking Ultrasound Training Zone, sponsored by Philips, which brought delegates together to explore the latest clinical procedures and innovative technologies in echocardiography, intensive care and diagnostic imaging.
- The conference also allowed attendees to learn from a wide array of world-class speakers across the industry, including Dr Sarb Clare MBE & Dr Andrew Wilkinson, who delivered a session on day two exploring how ‘Same Day Emergency Care’ provides a solution to the Urgent and Emergency Care crisis, and - when done well - improves the patients journey significantly.
The Acute & General Medicine Conference brings all medical professionals involved in emergency, acute and advanced internal medicine together to help them update and develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to enhance care for their patients in acute settings and general ward.
