Approaches for the patient who can't sleep: useful strategies for the clinic and the ward

Difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep is a common complaint in inpatient and outpatient settings and has multiple causes. This talk will describe how to screen for the most common drivers of sleep disruption and some simple strategies to manage common sleep disorders such as insomnia and restless legs.
- 1) Be aware of the differential diagnosis in the patient who can't sleep.
- 2) Know how to quickly and efficiently differentiate between these diagnoses.
- 3) Learn behavioural and pharmacological strategies to manage these conditions.
